The Yamaha RGZ Export Series continued

An RGZ 612p

All models other than on previous pages are Made in Taiwan. There are 7 models listed in the 1990 catalogue these are along with the custom and standard from the previous pages: 612 including an L left handed model, 621, 611M, 312 and 211M. In the 1992 catalogue all the 1990 models have gone and the current models are now 612P which includes a PL left handed model, 621P, 621PR 321P, 112P and 121P. In addition not in either catalogue there is a 112 and a 121. It would be interesting to see what is in the 1991 catalogue but I have no access to this. The first series have non matching headstocks with Yamaha written in black and then the model number on the front of the headstock, the later 6 series Ps have Matching headstocks with Yamaha written in white and colour with the model number on the back of the headstock. As so often in Yamaha the first number is the series, the second number the number of humbuckers and the third the number of single coils.

Update Sep 2022
Warren McCulloch has emailed some pictures of his 621 Thanks Warren

The 2 and 3 Series
I can find only two 3 series models the 312 launched in 1990 and the 321p in the 1992 catalogue. Only 1 2 series the 211M again in the 1990 catalogue. The P has similar headstock and logo to the 6 series P models and the 312 has headstocks and logos like the 612 etc. The 211M has a slightly funkier headstock and logo similar to the p series.

The 112P and 121P
These are guitars which appear in the 1992 catalogue and don't really appear to belong to the RGZ range. They are really just standard strat clones without the locking nut and locking vibrato and having 22 frets. It maybe that there exist earlier 112 and 121 but I can't find them.

1992 Catalogue page

It can be seen from the above picture that these lack the funky headstocks of the rest of the Ps.
