In 1996 Yamaha produced a special edition, which they said was based on the SG1000. This was the SG1996 of which they made 300 units.
However they also made an SBG1996 and it isn't clear whether the 300 included the SBG or they made additional SGB1996s. In an advert
for an SBG the seller says it is No. 103 of 120 or 130, which could be right
In a nod to where the serial number would have been in the 60s they have the number on the fretboard on both the SG and SBG
in the format 30th Anniversary nnn.
It came with a special issue case with an anniversary stamp on it.
