According to the Yamaha archives this guitar was made presumably in Japan from 1988 to 1991 and retailed on release at ¥150,000
It appears in the 1990 Japanese catalogue at ¥139.000 showing an Antique Stain guitar.
There is speculation that this guitar is a 2100 made in Taiwan, or that it is the successor to the 2100. Given that the 2100
was in existence up until 1991 at least and this guitar first appears in 1988 it isn't the successor to the 2100.
it is a separate model. Also the 2100 was made in Japan and Taiwan.
The made in Japan and Taiwan bit could also be right for the 2100 II though, I haven't seen one of these made in Taiwan. They only appear in
Japanese catalogues suggesting domestic only but maybe those made in if any Taiwan were exported.

Update May 2025 A gentleman identifying himself only as Cyril has very kindly sent me a lot of pictures of his SA2100 II. It looks virtually identical to the 2100 and even just has SA2100 on the headstock. It does however have an interior label identifying it as a 2100 II. Some of Cyril's pictures are below. I also recently found a picture of the pickup of a 2100 II which is also clearly marked as that model.
