I don't normally detail JV models because 21 Frets does it in more detail than I could ever do, but they don't
really say much about these models. Maybe it's because they have 22 Frets. Also not all these models came with JV serial numbers.
Some are SQ and some are A serials and whilst popular wisdom is that A serial numbers started in 1985 we have ample proof that they
were in fact used as early as 1982.
The 1983 launch of these models comprises 13 models 5 are SSS configuration and the other 8 are HH configuration, a further HH appears later. Fender's take on them was "For the Metallist by the Metallist"
They had locking string systems known as Rox an explanation of terms. End Rox locked strings inside the trem block, Bottom Rox was a Floyd-type saddle, Top Rox was a string lock behind the nut.

The ST954 is slightly mysterious I have never seen one and I haven't found any details or pictures other than in the 1984 Twang it is listed in the specs but not pictured anywhere. It appears to be identical to the ST952 except that it only comes in Natural.
The series ended in 1984/5 but there are some later quite similar Fender branded models in the Boxer series
